Keep your body healthy (what you eat is important)

Nutritional psychology is a relatively new discipline. Our brain is constantly struggling to keep us functioning, which requires us to provide quality fuel.

Eating a diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants provides the brain with the fuel it needs and keeps us functioning optimally. Diets containing refined sugar have been shown to negatively affect the brain, causing insulin resistance, inflammation, oxidative stress, and mood disorders.

There is a strong link between gut health and the brain. Most of the serotonin we produce is in the gastrointestinal tract, which contains millions of neurons. These nerve cells do not work properly in an environment where there are bad bacteria. Neurotransmitters need good bacteria to reliably absorb nutrients from what they eat and to activate the neural network that flows from the intestines to the brain. Eat probiotics, eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, unprocessed grains, fermented foods, and fish, and avoid processed, sugary, and refined foods to improve your mood and increase anxiety.
